Bugzilla and email

I had asked on IRC the other day for info on how to send emails to bugzilla. Well, I found the actual specs for it on the bugzilla site. The documentation in the bugzilla tarball is a bit dated in this regard.

The only problem is that checksetup.pl is …

IP-based virtual hosts on a dynamic IP

Just discovered something very interesting. I had all my websites setup on my machine with IP-based virtual hosts (i.e. ) and was trying to use wildcards (*:80) and it just wasn't working right the way I wanted it to, because I wanted some sites restricted to a certain IP, and …

VMware Workstation 6 and Sound in Mandriva

I keep running into this issue everytime I have to run vmware tools so I thought I'd mention it here. vmware-tools insists on rewriting /etc/modprobe.conf and changing "alias sound-slot-0 snd-ens1371" to "alias sound es1371".

I have no idea why, but this keeps removing sound everytime I upgrade a …

RPM Query Suite has impressive benchmarks

Short of implementing some more error checking and making things a bit prettier, the "RPM Query Suite" is pretty much done. I've finished rqp, the counter-part to rqs. rqp imports the requires, provides, and file lists of binary rpm packages into a postgresql (or mysql, or sqlite (although I've only …

Mandriva 2007.1 on HP TX1120 tablet

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to install 2007.1 on a HP TX1120 laptop (a tablet). This is a really slick laptop; it's an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56 (1.8GHz), with 2GB RAM, a Seagate 160GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (ok, the graphics card leaves a …

Farewell, Stew!

Well, yesterday was Stew Benedict's last day with Mandriva. Stew has been working with me on security updates for a few years now and it has been an absolute pleasure to work with him for that time. He's moved on, and I respect that... probably needed something different. Stew was …

Upgrading to 2007.1 RC1 (well, current cooker anyways)

I decided to give the new Mandriva 2007.1 RC1 a try. Since I mirror cooker, I figured I'd do a straight "urpmi --auto-select" upgrade on my 2007 box rather than downloading a bunch of ISOs. So it's not really RC1 (really, with a few hundred packages being changed since …
