This week’s mac techmail is Upload your old email to Google Apps. If you have a Google Apps account, rather than a GMail account, you can use the Google Email Uploader tool to upload old/existing emails from a local client to Google Apps. This is great if you want to have all of your mail in one place. If you migrated from another mail system to using Google Apps, you can use this tool to bring all your old emails with you. It’s something you’d only really need to use once, but it works really well. And with the ability to upload mbox and maildir format mails as well (instead of just old Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Entourage, etc. email), you can use a tool like offlineimap to suck down old mails to a maildir, then turn around and upload them back to Google Apps. Works great, and is quite fast.
