Wow. This was completely unexpected, but I just read this morning that Crispin Cowan has joined Microsoft to work on security stuff over there. This, as far as I’m concerned, is big news for Microsoft. Sounds like they may finally have someone who has a clue working over there. Of course, the real question then becomes what happens to AppArmor? I suspect AppArmor will survive as a result of this, and Crispin will probably continue to work on it somewhat, although it may end up being more of a free-time project than anything else (of course, Novell owns AppArmor so they probably won’t be giving it the boot anytime soon).

Novell should never have gotten rid of the ex-Immunix folks. I guess Novell’s loss is now Microsoft’s gain. Funny how that seems to have happened before.
