This week’s mac TechMail is Install open source software on your Mac easily with Fink. I love Fink. One of the first things I install on any OS X computer I setup is Fink. It gives me all the goodies I’m used to on Linux and makes the CLI so much more bearable (using the GNU commands of things like ls, cp, etc. that I’m used to rather than the BSD variants). So much stuff is available for Fink that it makes running the terminal on OS X so much nicer. And being able to use it to get newer versions of subversion and other apps that OS X bundles is nice as well; keeps me up to date with what’s running on the Fedora boxen as well.
