This week’s mac techmail is Mac App Store pros and cons: What it means for developers and users. This is a bit of an opinion piece (I try to avoid writing opinions, but I couldn’t help it here) that looks at the current state of the Mac App Store, what’s good about it, what isn’t, and what has me wondering about the future of the OS X platform when this takes off. There is no doubt that it will take off (look at the iOS App Store for proof), but what will it mean to end users and developers when it does, and will we see Apple restrict all application and software purchases on OS X to the Mac App Store? Will OS X get locked down even more? Read the tip for my opinion.
