Last week’s mac techmail was Get increased password protection on the iPhone which looks at using the iPhone configuration utility to create security profiles. While this isn’t a pure and perfect security solution, it’s another layer in the onion that will keep casual folks off your phone and getting at the data. It would be nice if the iPhone offered better encryption so it wasn’t so easy to work around if you have a computer to hook it up to, but having something a little stronger than a four-digit pin, to me, is a half-step in the right direction.
